TYTHESTER ®  ‘eco’  PLAS CARDS

‘A Degradable plastic is defined (ASTM 1991) as a

Plastic that is designed to undergo a significant change in its Chemical structure under specific environmental conditions

Resulting in a loss of some properties that may vary as measured by Standard test methods appropriate to te plastic and the application in a Period of time that determines its classification.  A Biodegradable plastic is defined as a degradable plastic in which the degradation results from the Action of naturally occurring micro organisms such as bacteria, fungi and algae

The biodegradation of the submitted plastic samples were tested using ASTMD 5209-91‘standard test method for Determining the Aerobic Biodegradations of Plastic Materials in the Presence of Municipal sewage sludge  ‘  ASTM D5338.98 ‘standard test method for determining Aerobic Biodegradation of Plastic materials (HIP) Tythester ® under controlled composting conditions which is equivalent to CEN orEN Wl 261085 and the ISO 14855 method

Evaluation of the Ultimate Aerobic Biodegradbility and Disintegration of plastics under controlled   Composting conditions ASTM 5511   ‘ Standard test methodfor determining anaerobic biodegradation of plastic materials under high solids anaerobic digestion conditions   The results ofthese tests and the related biogradation and ecological impact experiments in various environments are contained in the ecological assessment of ECM plastic report dated febuary l6th l999 which certifies that plastic products manufactured with ECM additions can be marketed as biodegradable and safe for the environment.

DISADVANTAGES OF PVC

Tests have shown that as PVC is made from Chlorine, which is known as an extremely dangerous poisonous chemical, PVC is polluting the atmosphere, depletes the ozone layer and is at its most toxic during manufacture in its raw state.  PVC CAN ONLY CONTINUE TO DAMAGE OUR WORLD.

The damaging effect of this material is currently under discussion, not only by Greenpeace, WWF and similar ecology-orientated Non Government  Organisations (NGL) but now also by 'think tanks' and industry orientated groups.

TYTHESTER 'ECO' CARDS DO NOT CAUSE ANY ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE.

  • PVC produces and releases Dioxins (very toxic substances) which requires very sophisticated installations and handling.

  • All Scandinavian and many other European countries have now banned Dioxins (in all PVC cards) in their most civil societies and have socially and politically completely refused PVC as an unacceptable material - too toxic to use.

  • Burning PVC produces HYDROCHLORIC ACID (HCL) which contributes to the generation of acid rain.
